Cape Winelands · South Africa

Wine shaped by granite, fynbos and the last lightof a Cape evening.

Fynhaven makes a small family of wines from vines that grow between mountain and wild heath. Each bottle carries the hush of the cellar and the warmth of a long golden hour.

Our story

A haven in the fynbos.

Fynhaven takes its name from fynbos, the fine-leaved wild heath that blankets the Cape and perfumes the air between our rows. We farm with that landscape rather than against it, and we let it speak in the glass.

The estate’s story began in [Founding year] when [Founder names] first walked these slopes. What followed was patience: learning each block and each season, and the particular way evening light settles over the vines before the mountain takes the sun.

The vineyard

Between mountain and sea.

Our vines root into weathered granite on slopes cooled by afternoon breezes. Fynbos grows wild at the edge of every block, and we leave it there: a reminder of where the wine comes from.

I. The ground

Roots in old granite

Bush vines push deep into decomposed granite, where they find water and restraint in equal measure. The berries stay small and the flavour concentrated.

II. The hand

Picked in the cool of morning

Every bunch is cut by hand at first light and sorted before it reaches the cellar. Patience at the vine shows in the glass.

III. The cellar

Rested in candle-quiet stillness

Below ground the wines rest in oak, tasted barrel by barrel until each is ready. We bottle when the wine tells us, not the calendar.
